Petzl has been manufacturing professional equipment to meet the stringent requirements of workplace safety regulations. Petzl is a known and trusted brand in the vertical access, industrial safety and rescue operations. Petzl's roots lie in the desire of its founders to serve one passion: exploration. In 1943, Chevalier designed and tested the first nylon rope to replace caving ladders. This technology provided the foundation for nearly all vertical safety methods to come. Chevalier’s innovation led to the first 1,000 meter cave descent when Petzl explored the Gouffre Berger in France in 1950. Since its beginnings in caving, the company’s mission has remained constant: to offer practical solutions that allow people to progress. Today that pioneering spirit, passion for exploration and ethic have not changed. More than forty years later, Petzl continues to invent products and provide solutions that allow sports enthusiasts and professionals to access some of the most inaccessible places, both day and night.
